John Hearing

John Hearing is an experienced professional with a diverse background in systems engineering, education, and military service. Currently serving as an Adjunct Professor at the U.S. Naval War College since July 2020, John instructs Master's degree courses in Joint Maritime Operations. In addition, John has been an instructor at the California Institute of Technology since June 2015, teaching graduate-level certificate courses in Systems Engineering and Aerospace Project Management. John's career in systems engineering includes significant roles at Boeing Commercial Airplanes, where John contributed to safety improvements, root cause analysis, and the design of new airborne systems. Prior military experience includes a distinguished career in the U.S. Navy, where John achieved the rank of Commander and served in various leadership positions. John's educational qualifications include a Master’s degree in Space Systems Operations from the Naval Postgraduate School and a Bachelor's degree in Political Science from the University of Washington.
