Bilal Shaikh

Building the Operating System for Biology at Formic Labs

Bilal Shaikh has significant work experience in the field of biology and bioinformatics. In 2013, they worked as a Waksman Student Scholar at Rutgers University, where they learned molecular biology lab techniques and published gene sequences in the NCBI Database. In 2015, they were a Student Researcher at Rutgers University, managing an individual project and maintaining C. elegans and E. coli. Bilal later worked as an Undergraduate Researcher at Columbia University, studying protein trafficking pathways and maintaining mammalian cells. Bilal also gained experience as a Research Intern at Hackensack Meridian Health, a Resident Advisor at Columbia University Residential Life, and a Chemistry Help Room Tutor at Columbia University Chemistry Department. Bilal'smost recent role was as a Bioinformatician at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. In 2022, they joined Formic Labs, where they are involved in building the Operating System for Biology.

Bilal Shaikh completed their education in a chronological order. Bilal graduated from Holmdel High School in 2011. Bilal then attended Columbia University from 2015 to 2019, where they obtained a Bachelor's Degree. Bilal'sfields of study at Columbia University included Biochemistry and Computer Science.

In 2012, Bilal Shaikh also participated in the Columbia University Science Honors Program. However, details regarding any degree obtained or field of study are not available.

After completing their Bachelor's Degree, Bilal Shaikh pursued further studies at the Georgia Institute of Technology from 2020 to 2024. Here, they are currently pursuing a Master of Science (MS) degree in Computer Science.
