Alex Haring

Alex Haring currently serves as the Materials Lead and Senior Materials Scientist at Formlabs, where significant contributions include the conceptualization, development, and launch of Formlabs Silicone 40A, the first commercially accessible silicone for 3D printing. Experience encompasses the entire R&D cycle, from conceptualization through to product launch. Prior to Formlabs, Alex Haring was a Research Assistant at Virginia Tech, developing new additive manufacturing techniques and material formulations for 3D printing and tissue culture applications. Early career experience includes an R&D internship at Eastman Chemical Company, where analysis of powder flow rheology was conducted, and a process engineering internship at Verso Paper, which involved improving process monitoring and conducting statistical analyses to reduce energy costs. Alex Haring holds a PhD in Macromolecular Science and Engineering from Virginia Tech and a BS in Chemical Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
