Maria Scharfe

Senior Manager Food Science at Formo

Maria Scharfe has worked in a variety of roles in the food industry since 2011. Maria began their career as a Student Assistant at Technische Universität Berlin in 2011, where they were responsible for counselling, organizing events, and collaborating on the development of the Master program Food Technology. In 2012, they completed an internship at Nordzucker AG, where they focused on process optimization. Maria then completed an internship at Organo Balance in 2013. In 2015, Maria began working as a Research Associate and PhD Candidate at Technische Universität Berlin, where they were responsible for method development, structure-function analysis, leading small teams in the lab, writing reviews and book chapters, lecturing, student training programs, and industry projects. Maria also presented at international conferences twice a year. In 2015, Maria took on an R&D Intern role at Unilever. Most recently, Maria began working as a Food Scientist at Formo in 2021.

Maria Scharfe attended Carl Bechstein Gymnasium from 2003 to 2009, where they obtained a General Qualification for University Entrance. Maria then attended Technische Universität Berlin from 2009 to 2013 and earned a Bachelor of Science in Food Technology. Maria continued their studies at the same university from 2013 to 2015 and obtained a Master of Science in Food Technology. Lastly, they completed their Doctor of Engineering in Food Science and Technology at Technische Universität Berlin from 2015 to 2021.
