Deputy Chief at Fort Smith PD

Deputy Chief Waymon Parker II commands the Uniform Bureau of the department which consists of the Patrol Field and Special Operations Divisions. Deputy Chief Parker began his career with the Fort Smith Police Department in 1994. He served as a patrol officer, bicycle officer, field training officer and criminal investigator prior to being promoted to the rank of Sergeant in 2010. He was promoted to the rank of Captain in 2015 and Deputy Chief in 2018. He holds an Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice and is a graduate of the University Of Arkansas Criminal Justice Institute's School of Law Enforcement Supervision and Police Chief Executive Development Course. He completed the FBI-LEEDA Executive Leadership Institute, the FBI-LEEDA Reflective Leadership Institute and the 21st Century Police Executive Leadership Challenge. In 2008, he was the recipient of an Official Departmental Commendation and the Morgan’s Choice Award for his actions leading to the safe recovery of an abducted child.
