Ben Kuiper

Ben Kuiper is an accomplished professional in the field of biochemistry and molecular biology, currently serving as the Director of R&D and Technical Manufacturing at Fortis Life Sciences since September 2021, following a tenure as Development Lead Scientist at Empirical Bioscience from August 2017 to September 2021. At Fortis Life Sciences and Empirical Bioscience, Ben Kuiper led R&D and product development teams to deliver innovative solutions for IVD and research applications, including the development of custom enzymes and reagents for the biotech and diagnostic industries. Prior to these roles, academic experience includes serving as a Graduate Research Assistant at Wayne State University, where research focused on structural and drug design studies of Norovirus and Zika Virus proteases, and as an Undergraduate Research Assistant at Calvin College, studying glucose uptake regulation. Ben Kuiper holds a Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Wayne State University and a Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry from Calvin University.
