Matthew Hoover has extensive experience in conservation, energy management, and environmental compliance. Currently serving as a Program Specialist in Conservation Assistance at FortisBC since July 2018, Matthew leads initiatives to help income-qualified customers and non-profit organizations reduce energy costs and greenhouse gas emissions. Previous roles include Planning and Design Technologist where Matthew managed project relationships and permitting, and Community and Indigenous Liaison, where relationships with Indigenous communities were developed and maintained. Prior experience includes serving as an Environment Specialist at Dominion Diamond Corporation, where Matthew ensured compliance with water licenses and permits, and as a Regulatory Analyst for the North Slave Métis Alliance, providing technical advice on environmental management. Matthew holds a Bachelor of Arts with Distinction in Geography from the University of Victoria and multiple diplomas from the British Columbia Institute of Technology in Renewable Resources, specializing in Fish, Wildlife, and Recreation.
