Matthijs Marell currently serves as Sr. Employment & Compliance Counsel EMEA at FORTNA, beginning in April 2024. Previously, Matthijs spent nearly a decade at The Kraft Heinz Company, where roles included Labour Relations Lead Operations International and Labour Relations & Legal HR Lead EMEA, focusing on employment law and labour relations across Europe, with specific attention to Dutch, German, and English law. Matthijs also held the position of Legal Counsel Europe, supporting IP matters and various business units. Early experience includes work as an intellectual property lawyer at Bird & Bird and guest lecturer at Leiden University, covering subjects like Patent Law and IP law. Matthijs holds an LLM in Dutch Law and a Master's degree in History from Leiden University, along with additional education from Università per Stranieri di Perugia and various institutions in the Netherlands.
