David Smith

David Smith serves as an Independent Director on the Board of Directors for Fortrea since June 2023. Previously, David had a successful tenure at Charles River Laboratories from April 2014 to February 2023, where responsibilities included serving as Executive Vice President & CFO and leading Corporate Senior Vice President roles in Global Discovery Services. Prior to that, David was the CEO of Galapagos Services, which was acquired by Charles River Laboratories in April 2014, and held positions at Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust as Executive Director of Finance. David also has significant experience at AstraZeneca, PwC, and Galapagos, where roles varied from CFO to Audit Manager. Educational credentials include an International Executive Programme from INSEAD, a Chartered Accountant qualification from ICAEW, and a Bachelor of Science in Molecular Biophysics from the University of Leeds.
