Robert Sweeney

Robert Sweeney has a diverse work experience spanning various roles in the information technology field. Robert is currently the Vice President of Information Technology at Forward Air Corporation, where they have been since 2021. Prior to this, they served as the IT Director of Mobile Development at Forward Air Corporation from June 2021 to October 2023.

Before joining Forward Air Corporation, Robert worked at Verizon Connect as a Product Leader for ELD/HOS Compliance from June 2019 to June 2021. Robert also has experience in TruGreen, where they held the position of Managing Director of IT from October 2013 to June 2019. In this role, they were responsible for leading transformative initiatives and managing a budget of $12M opex and $3M capex.

Robert has also worked at FedEx Services for a significant duration, where they held multiple roles. Robert served as an IT Manager from February 2011 to October 2013, leading a team responsible for successful shipment processing. Prior to that, they served as a Technical Principal from October 1995 to January 2011, leading a team of software engineers and spearheading enterprise-wide software architectural design patterns.

Additionally, Robert has work experience as a Technical Consultant at Workspace Mobility from February 2012 to June 2013. Robert started their career as a Computer Scientist at the US Army Corps of Engineers from May 1993 to September 1995, where they designed and implemented a scheduling system for Army logistics operations.

Throughout their career, Robert has demonstrated strong leadership skills, successfully leading teams and spearheading transformative initiatives.

Robert Sweeney holds a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Computer Science, which they obtained from Mississippi State University between 1993 and 1995. Prior to their master's degree, they completed a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Computer Science from the same institution from 1991 to 1993. Earlier in their education, they attended Hinds Community College from 1989 to 1991, where they pursued and obtained an Associate of Arts (A.A.) degree in Secondary Education.
