Brennan Mowry

Brennan Mowry has worked in the data industry since 2017. In 2017, they worked as a Data Intern at SabinoDB, where they took chaotic data from 16 Two Men and a Truck franchises and normalized it into a fresh MySQL database using custom built Python (Pandas and NumPy) and Bash/Unix ETL scripts. Brennan also debugged, fixed, and expanded legacy Excel macros using pivot tables and vlookup functionality. That same year, they also worked as a Business Analyst at Morris4x4Center.com, where they applied multiple linear regression using Python (scikit-learn, numpy, pandas) to provide an alternative ranking algorithm for products across all categories. Brennan also drove changes in site organization after detecting significant discrepancies between data sources and took initiative to democratize data by building self-updating Google spreadsheets that reported on metrics tailored to each recipient.

In 2018, they worked as a Data Developer at Forward Health Group, Inc., where they eliminated 40% of team-wide low-impact analyst work by automating data integration and extract transform load (ETL) pipelines using UNIX/bash, perl, python (pandas, numpy) and Apache Airflow in UNIX and MySQL AWS environments. Brennan also eliminated an additional 30% of low-impact team-wide analyst work by redesigning from first principles the core MySQL data model and adding an additional layer of abstraction to the data integration process. Brennan drove a 2x increase in company product line offerings by leveraging the innovations in the data model to prototype and develop previously impossible solutions. Brennan also worked as a Data Analyst at Forward Health Group, Inc., where they saved a marquee client with terabytes of messy data from 6+ sources by working nights and weekends to completely rebuild MySQL scripts and Pentaho Data Integration ETL jobs under extremely tight deadlines. Brennan also slashed costs on consultants by prototyping, pitching and building a system to take marquee client’s manual, quarterly data refresh to an automated, daily refresh cadence. Brennan created a new product line in the process.

In 2018, they also worked as a Co-Founder at OfferHawk, where they designed, built, and maintained a core data system. Brennan used Python (numpy, pandas) and shell scripting (Bash/UNIX) to automatically ETL data into Google cloud hosted PostgreSQL (with PostGIS) and flat file databases from over 10 disparate real estate data sources. Brennan also built automated valuation models (AVM) using machine learning techniques such as radius neighbors regression and K-nearest neighbors in Python (scikit-learn, numpy, pandas) to impute missing data elements, decide between contradictory elements, and generate gross rent multiple (GRM) and capitalization (CAP) rate estimates.

In 2019, they worked as a Managing Partner at Dahle LLC.

Brennan Mowry attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison from 2013 to 2017, where they earned a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Computer Science.
