Jonathan Blackburn

Jonathan Blackburn is a distinguished professional currently serving as a Distinguished Fellow at Standard BioTools since November 2024 and as a Steering Committee Member focused on Cancer, Inflammation & Immunity, and Neuroscience at the Foundation for the National Institutes of Health since July 2019. In addition, Jonathan has held the position of Deputy Director at the Institute of Infectious Disease & Molecular Medicine at the University of Cape Town since 2015 and served as Chief Scientific Officer at Sengenics from 2017 until August 2025. Jonathan's academic background includes a Postdoctoral degree in Protein Engineering and a DPhil in Organic Chemistry, both from the University of Oxford, as well as a BA (Hons) 1st Class and MA in Chemistry from the same institution.
