Zach Komes has a diverse work experience in the fields of business, finance, and policy. Zach began their career in 2014 as a Policy Intern at the Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC). That same year, they served as the Campaign Manager for Jonathan Brostoff for State Assembly and as Business Incubation and Impact Investment Fund Interns at City First Enterprises. In 2015, they were an Emerging Fellow for Economic Development at the Roosevelt Institute, where they wrote a whitepaper on the strategies of large, place-based anchor institutions in growing local, minority-owned businesses. In 2016, they were the Founding Director of the DC Community Anchor Partnership (DCAP) and Director of Strategic Partnerships at the Coalition for Nonprofit Housing and Economic Development (CNHED). In 2019, they joined the Board of Directors of the Crystal City Civic Association. In 2020, they became a Co-Lead of the HBS Impact Investing Fund and an MBA Candidate at Harvard Business School. In 2021, they were an MBA Summer Fellow, Region of Choice at MMAC, where they explored how area corporations can expand their commitment to racial equity. In 2022, they began as an Investor Relations Manager at Founders First Capital Partners.
Zach Komes is currently enrolled at Harvard Business School, where they are pursuing an M.B.A. Prior to this, they obtained a B.A. in Economics from The George Washington University. Zach also participated in an International Honors Program Cities in the 21st Century Study Abroad Program. Zach holds an International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma and a High School Diploma from Rufus King International High School. In addition, they have obtained a Real Estate Development and Reuse course certification from the International Economic Development Council in February 2020 and an Advanced Open Water Diver certification from PADI.
