Herman van Bekkem

Herman van Bekkem is currently serving as the Program Lead for Climate & Animal Welfare at FOUR PAWS since January 2022. Prior to this role, a significant period from January 2020 to April 2021 was spent on paternity leave. From June 2007 to January 2020, extensive experience was gained as a campaign leader at Greenpeace Nederland, focusing on agriculture-related issues, including biodiversity, climate change, and the use of biomass. Notably, in 2016-2017, leadership was provided for the European project Stop Glyphosate campaign, which aimed to ban glyphosate across the EU, coordinating efforts with various NGOs. An interim policy advisor position was held at Greenpeace European Unit in 2012, where responsibilities included coordinating political strategy at the EU level. Herman van Bekkem holds a Master's degree in Environmental Social Sciences and prior degrees in Social Geography and Resource Management from Utrecht University and Van Hall Larenstein University of Applied Sciences.
