Francis Ben Kaifala

Francis Ben Kaifala serves as the Commissioner and Head of The Anti-Corruption Commission of the Republic of Sierra Leone since June 2018, while concurrently holding a position as a Lecturer at Fourah Bay College - University of Sierra Leone. Kaifala was the former President of the Network of Anti-Corruption Institutions in West Africa from October 2019 to April 2023 and served as a former Board Member of the African Union Advisory Board on Corruption from February 2021 to February 2023. Previous experience includes roles as Senior/Managing Partner at Kaifala, Kanneh & Co, Human Rights Scholar at the Bernard and Audre Rapoport Center for Human Rights & Justice, and various positions at Wright & Co. Kaifala's educational background includes multiple LL.M degrees from prestigious institutions such as Harvard Law School, Queen Mary University of London, and The University of Texas at Austin, along with a Bachelor of Laws with Honours from Fourah Bay College.

Fourah Bay College - University of Sierra Leone

Fourah Bay College was founded by the Church Missionary Society in 1827, for the purpose of training Africans as schoolmasters, catechists and clergymen. The establishment of Fourah Bay College intended, on the one hand ,to provide its pupils, the children of the freed slaves and liberated Africans with opportunities to obtain training in basic skills, needed to survive in their new environment, and on the other hand, to train those of its pupils who displayed the requisite aptitude as teachers and priests
