Before transitioning into HR, Chris enjoyed a successful career as a professional athlete in Major League Soccer. Chris played for teams such as Sporting KC, New England Revolution, San Jose Earthquakes, Real Salt Lake, and Portland Timbers, winning an MLS Cup with Sporting KC in 2000.

Chris Brown GPHR, SPHR completed their Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Finance from the University of Portland, which they attended until 2003. Prior to that, they attended Jesuit High School in Portland. In terms of additional certifications, Chris obtained the Global Professional in Human Resources® (GPHR®) Certification from the HR Certification Institute - HRCI in October 2018. Chris also earned the Senior Professional in Human Resources® (SPHR®) Certification from the same institution in February 2015. Chris further pursued professional development by obtaining a Certificate in Leadership from HRCI and a Certificate for Diversity and Inclusion for HR Management from the HRCI in December 2021.
