Jean Hamel

Chief Engineer at FPInnovations

Jean Hamel is the current Chief Engineer at FPInnovations. Prior to this, they served as the Director of Research at FPInnovations from 2007-2009, and on the Board of Directors for Institut des communications graphiques et de l’imprimabilité – ICI (ICGQ) from 2010-2018.

Jean has also served on the Board of Directors for CelluForce from 2011-2012, and Bioindustrial Innovation Canada (BIC) since 2009. In their role as Board Member for ADRIQ from 2009-2014, they contributed to the Executive committee from 2011-2014.

Jean has dedicated their career to supporting technological innovation in Québec and foster partnerships between decision-makers. Jean is a respected leader in their field, with a wealth of experience in start-ups, research, and management.

Jean Hamel has a Bachelor of Applied Science in Mechanical Engineering from Université de Sherbrooke and a Master of Applied Science in Mechanical Engineering from Université de Sherbrooke. Jean is also certified as a Professional Engineer from Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec.

They are on a team with Terry Knee - Corporate Secretary, Governance & Compliance, Denis Cormier - VP, Research Operations, and Tim Caldecott - Provincial Leader, British Columbia. Jean Hamel reports to Stéphane Renou, President & CEO.
