Ian McFarland

VP of Program Management at Fractal EMS

Ian McFarland has extensive experience in project and program management, with a focus on energy storage systems. Ian currently holds the position of VP of Program Management at Fractal EMS, where they drive and manages the company's project portfolios and product development programs. Ian also oversees general company operations, including quality initiatives, supply chain management, procurement, and product/project life-cycle processes.

Prior to their current role, Ian worked at Aggreko as the Head of Project Management - AMSS and as a Senior Project Manager. At Aggreko, they gained expertise in managing projects and leading project management teams.

Before joining Aggreko, Ian was a Senior Project Manager and Project Manager at Younicos, where they successfully managed various energy storage system projects.

Ian also has experience as a Project Manager at Xtreme Power, where they were responsible for maintaining project deliverables, managing budgets, serving as the main point of contact with customers, and supervising installation teams. Ian also played a key role in project scheduling for large-scale energy storage system projects and was involved in business development and analytics.

Additionally, Ian has worked as a Senior Design Project Manager at Southern Methodist University and as a Quality Intern at Turbomeca USA. Ian also gained experience as an Intern at Texas Instruments, where they analyzed suppliers and competitors to determine their reliability.

Throughout their career, Ian has demonstrated strong leadership skills, the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, and a focus on continuous improvement and efficiency. Ian'sexpertise in energy storage systems and project management make him a valuable asset in any organization.

Ian McFarland's education history begins with their Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in French Studies, which they obtained from Southern Methodist University in 2010. Ian also obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Mechanical Engineering from the same university during the same period.

After that, Ian pursued a Master's degree in Engineering (M.S.E.) with a focus on Operations Research/Industrial Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin between 2010 and 2012.

In 2014 and 2015, Ian attended IE Business School, where they obtained a Master of Business Administration (MBA) specializing in International Business.

In terms of certifications, Ian has acquired several. In 2009, they obtained the Diplôme de Français Professionnel Affaires B2 from the Chambre de commerce et d’industrie de région Paris Ile-de-France. In 2015, they earned the Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from the Project Management Institute. Additionally, Ian became a Professional Engineer through the Hawaii Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs in 2018, as well as through the Texas Board of Professional Engineers in 2016. Lastly, in 2020, they obtained the C-60 Solar Power Systems Contractor certification from the Hawaii Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs.
