Nicholas Tirrusa

Project Engineer at Fraen Corporation

Nicholas Tirrusa has worked in the engineering field since 2016. Nicholas began their career as an Engineering Intern at Fraen Corporation, where they learned basic problem-solving skills, teamwork, time-management, prioritization skills, technical writing, and communicating relevant data and information from various tests. Nicholas also used Solidworks to design and create new parts to be prototyped, reverse engineer various gages and trays, and create drawings from parts to be machined or manufactured. Nicholas also conducted tests of manufactured optics on LED’s for efficiency and accuracy on gonio spectrometer. In 2021, Nicholas began working for Fraen Corporation as a Project Engineer, responsible for quoting various new projects for customers for parts to be injection molded, stamped, finished, and/or assembled. Nicholas also communicated with the customer to understand their requirements and quoted piece pricing, tooling costs, part/tooling lead times, and provided DFM suggestions. Additionally, they coordinated and ran meetings with department supervisors to analyze new project feasibility and develop APQP. In 2021, Nicholas also began working as a Graduate TA and Advisor at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where they served as a GTA for the Senior Capstone Design course, assisting in course management, administration, project consultation, and grading. Nicholas also worked as an advisor for undergraduate students for course selection and academic advising.

Nicholas Tirrusa earned a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 2020. Nicholas then went on to pursue a Master of Science in Engineering Management from the same university from 2020 to 2021. Nicholas also attended the University of Cape Town in 2018 to earn a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering.
