Founded in 1978, what was then Schabmüller Maschinenbau GmbH laid the foundation for today's Franz Schabmüller group of companies with the production of farm loaders and small tractors.

The group of companies now employs around 1100 people at seven different locations and consists of nine operating companies, including Schabmüller Automobiltechnik GmbH , MONTES GmbH & Co. KG , ZBG Zerspanungstechnik Bruck GmbH , ZMT Automotive GmbH & Co. KG , WELCO GmbH & Co. KG , FS Technologies GmbH & Co. KG , fresh IT GmbH , MONTES Hungária Kft. and FS Metalltechnik GmbH & Co. KG. With their different focal points, these cover the areas of machining small, medium and large series, assembly of complex assemblies, surface coating and finishing in design quality, quality and logistics services as well as tool and mechanical engineering.

In addition to the operating companies, there are other companies in the Franz Schabmüller group of companies. FS Real Estate GmbH & Co. KG is responsible for the management of the properties and VENTIS GmbH & Co. KG is an investment company for start-ups and minority interests.
