Joseph Heyward

VP For Student Affairs (ret.) at Francis Marion University

Joseph Heyward has a diverse work experience spanning over several decades. Joseph began their career in 1978 as an Area Representative for U.S. Senator Ernest Hollings, representing an 11 county area of the state. In 1980, they joined Florence School District One as the Assistant Superintendent for Instruction, where they served until 1983. Joseph then moved on to Francis Marion University, where they spent the majority of their career as the Vice President for Student Affairs until their retirement.

Joseph Heyward obtained their Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from Hampton University between 1959 and 1963. Joseph then pursued a Master of Arts degree in Mathematics from Morgan State University from 1969 to 1971. Finally, they completed their Doctor of Education degree in Student Personnel Administration at the University of South Carolina between 1983 and 1987.
