Joel Selkrig

Joel Selkrig is an experienced assistant professor at Uniklinik RWTH Aachen since February 2022, previously serving as a staff scientist at EMBL from 2014 to March 2022. At EMBL, Joel led systems biology research projects focused on host-microbe interactions, contributed to manuscript and research proposal writing, and designed in vitro wet lab biochemical experiments. Joel's postdoctoral research involved thorough analysis of quantitative proteomics to dissect these interactions, genetic manipulation of bacteria, and supervising PhD students and technicians. Earlier, Joel worked as a research assistant at Nanyang Technological University Singapore, investigating the gut microbiome's effects on brain development, and completed a Ph.D. at Monash University and University of Melbourne, specializing in bacterial protein secretion and membrane proteins.
