Fred Hutch
Alex Netzley is a Graduate Data Science Researcher in the Ha Lab at Fred Hutch Cancer Research Center, focused on deep learning applications in cancer genomics. With experience in developing multi-modal CNN-based models for predicting gene expression and enhancing model interpretability, Alex has also restructured data preprocessing workflows for XGBoost models and created a bioinformatics application for cell-free DNA tumor fraction estimation. Previous roles include Machine Learning Engineering Intern at ZS and AI/Data Science Research Intern at Medtronic, where Alex investigated deep learning algorithms for ECG data and developed classification models. Academic credentials include a Master of Science in Data Science from the University of Washington and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Michigan, complemented by internships at Medtronic and Engineering Systems Inc.
