Kelly O'Brien is the Vice President of Philanthropy at Fred Hutch. Kelly has over 25 years of experience in the field of development and fundraising.

Kelly began their career in 1989 as the Director of Development at Emory University's Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing. Kelly then spent four years as the Development Officer at the Seattle Art Museum, before taking on the role of Director of Individual Giving at the Philadelphia Museum of Art in 2001.

In 2010, Kelly was promoted to Executive Director of Development and Campaign Director at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, where they oversaw all aspects of the museum's fundraising efforts. Kelly left the museum in 2015 to join Fred Hutch.

Kelly is a highly respected development professional, with a proven track record of successful fundraising campaigns. Kelly is passionate about their work and committed to helping Fred Hutch achieve its mission to eliminate cancer and related diseases.

Kelly O’Brien has a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and Government as well as Economics from Emory University. Prior to that, they attended St Thomas Aquinas for their high school education.

Kelly O’Brien reports to Thomas J. Lynch Jr., President and Director. and Sergey Smirnov - Associate Director, Corporate Partnerships reports to Kelly O’Brien. They are on a team with Fred Appelbaum - EVP & Deputy Director, Garnet Anderson - SVP, Director - Public Health Sciences, and Niki Robinson - Vice President, Research Administration.
