Carolyn Heeps has extensive experience in the renewable energy industry, particularly in offshore wind. Carolyn is currently the Head of Offshore Wind at Fred. Olsen Renewables, a position they have held since 2019. Prior to this, they worked at RES-Group as the Offshore Development Strategy Manager, starting in 2011. In this role, they gained over 30 years of experience in marine sciences, including 16 years specifically in offshore wind. Carolyn has expertise in various areas, including business development, negotiation, market assessment, strategic advice, planning and policy implementation, government and public affairs, project management, and stakeholder outreach.
In addition, Carolyn Heeps served as the Head of Renewables, North America at Lloyd's Register from 2018 to 2019. Before that, they were the Head of Offshore Development at Fred Olsen Renewables, where they led the company's work in offshore wind, including site selection, feasibility studies, and environmental assessments. Carolyn also played a role in securing agreements with The Crown Estate for offshore wind and tidal projects.
Heeps has also contributed significantly to the industry through their work at The Crown Estate. Carolyn held the position of Head of Environment and Sustainable Development from 2001 to 2008, during which they led the leasing of the first two offshore wind farm rounds in the UK. Carolyn also managed wave and tidal interests and played a key role in the development of the UK offshore wind industry.
Furthermore, Carolyn Heeps founded a Charitable Trust called Cowrie in 2001 while working at The Crown Estate. This trust focused on funding projects to understand the environmental impacts of offshore wind and brought together industry developers, government agencies, regulators, and academic interests to support research needs in the emerging industry.

Carolyn Heeps attended the University of Wales, Cardiff (UWIST) from 1978 to 1981, where they pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Maritime Geography, specializing in the field of Maritime Geography.
