Joar Merkesdal

Joar Merkesdal has a diverse work experience spanning over several companies. Joar started their career at The Royal Norwegian Ministry of Defence, working as an Advisor from 1996 to 2001. Joar then joined Wallenius Wilhelmsen Lines as a Manager Technical Architecture, where they oversaw the centralization and consolidation of infrastructure and developed applications. From 2004 to 2005, they worked at Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics as the Chief Enterprise Architect. Joar then joined Wilhelmsen Maritime Services as an Enterprise IT Operation Manager from 2005 to 2008. Joar later worked at Wilhelmsen IT Services as the Vice President Enterprise IT Operation, overseeing the IT operations from 2009 to 2011. Joar then became the Director of IT Operation at Wilhelmsen IT Services, accountable for data centers, applications, and staff management from 2011 to 2013. Following that, they worked at Skill AS as a Consulting Manager, focusing on Microsoft Cloud services and leading the unit in Oslo. In 2016, Joar joined Ahlsell Norge AS as the Head of IT, and later became the Head of IT Operations at Fred. Olsen & Co. in 2018. Joar currently holds the position of Head of IT at Fred. Olsen & Co.

Joar Merkesdal obtained a Høyskolekandidat BI degree from the BEDRIFTSØKONOMISTUDIET, where they studied from 1994 to 1996. Prior to that, from 1992 to 1994, they pursued the NHI Datahøgskolekandidatstudiet program at Norges Høyskole i Informasjonsteknologi NHI in Stavanger and Oslo.
