Edward Abrams

Associate General Counsel - Mortgage Securities

Edward Abrams has extensive legal experience in the finance and real estate sectors. Currently serving as Associate General Counsel for Freddie Mac since 2007, Abrams leads legal counsel for the company's single-family mortgage credit risk transfer business unit and plays a key role in the issuance and sale of mortgage credit risk securities, including the Structured Agency Credit Risk (STACR) program. Prior to this role, Abrams worked at Sidley Austin LLP from 2003 to 2007 as an associate, handling multi-million dollar real estate and corporate transactions. Abrams began his career as a law clerk for the Honorable Robert M. Bell at the Maryland Court of Appeals, where legal opinions were drafted on various legal issues. Edward Abrams holds a J.D. from the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law and a B.A. in Government & Politics from the University of Maryland.
