Patrick B. Pexton has a diverse range of work experience in journalism and media. Patrick B. started their career as a Staff Writer for The Alexandria Journal in 1991 before moving on to the Times Journal Co. as a Staff Writer. Pexton then joined Army Times Publishing Company as a Staff Writer for Navy Times and later became the Chief Pentagon Correspondent for Times News Service. Patrick B. also served as the Managing Editor for Times News Service and Navy Times.
In 1998, Pexton joined National Journal as a Managing Editor and later became the Deputy Editor. During their time there, they led a team of writers focused on national security and foreign policy issues.
Pexton then joined The Washington Post in 2011 as the Ombudsman, serving as an independent internal critic and representing readers' concerns. After their tenure at The Washington Post, they worked for various organizations including PBPexton.com, Connections Media LLC, where they served as the Managing Director of Custom Content, and CQ Roll Call, where they served as the Defense and Foreign Policy Editor.
Most recently, Pexton has been working at CQ - Roll Call, Inc. as the Editor of the CQCyber newsletter and for policy coverage of advanced technologies.
Patrick B. Pexton obtained their high school diploma from South Hills High School in 1972. Patrick B. then pursued a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science at Claremont McKenna College from 1972 to 1976. Continuing their education, Pexton earned a Master of Arts degree from Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) between 1977 and 1979. During their time at SAIS, they focused their studies on American foreign policy, international economics, and European area studies.
