Jos Midas Bartman is a seasoned researcher and project leader with significant experience in investigating issues related to journalism and governance. Currently serving as a Research Coordinator at Free Press Unlimited since April 2020, Bartman leads initiatives focused on combating impunity for crimes against journalists. Prior to this role, Bartman was a PhD candidate at the University of Amsterdam from February 2014 to April 2020, where research revolved around the dynamics of authoritarianism and democracy within the context of globalization. Additional professional experience includes co-supervising a commercial team at Spring Real Estate B.V., freelance journalism with the European Student Think Tank, and support in human rights research at the Dialogue Advisory Group. Bartman holds multiple degrees from the University of Amsterdam, including a Research Master's in International Development Studies and a Bachelor's in Political Science & International Relations.
