Jules Swinkels

Researcher at Free Press Unlimited

Jules Swinkels is an experienced researcher and project officer currently working at Free Press Unlimited since March 2020, focusing on tracking violent crimes against journalists. Prior experience includes serving as a Research Fellow at The Horn Institute for Strategic Studies, where research addressed defense, security, and conflict resolution. As Program Officer for OrangeLink/Football for Water, Jules guided implementing partners in sustainable program strategies. Leadership as Research Lead for the #IAmKenya campaign involved gathering insights on societal issues affecting Kenyan-Somalis. Additional roles span from co-founding De Focus, aimed at bridging student research with society, to earlier positions in academic support and team leadership. Jules holds a Master of Arts in Military Strategic Studies from the Royal Military Academy and a Bachelor of Arts in Political History and International Relations from Utrecht University.
