Senior Technical Animator at Free Range Games

Jeff Cooperman has a diverse work experience in the field of animation. Jeff is currently working as a Senior Technical Animator at Free Range Games since July 2022. Prior to this, they worked as an Animator at Topgolf from March 2020 to May 2021.

From 2007 to 2020, Jeff worked as an Instructor at the Academy of Art University, focusing on mid and senior level character animation. Jeff made revisions to the character animation classes and emphasized solid workflow techniques.

Jeff also has experience as a Contract Animator at Crystal Dynamics, where they worked on Marvel's Avengers from April 2019 to March 2020. At Pocket Gems, they served as a Senior Character Animator from October 2015 to January 2019, contributing to mobile projects War Dragons and Wild Beyond.

In addition, Jeff worked as a Contract Animator at Hangar 13 for 10 months in 2015, where they animated vehicle mechanics, pedestrians, combat, and swimming animations for Mafia 3. Jeff also assisted in mocap shoots and created logic trees using proprietary tools.

Before that, Jeff worked as a Visiting Instructor at The Animation Workshop, VIA University College in February 2015. Jeff also has extensive experience at Toys For Bob/Activision Blizzard as a Senior Animator from December 2011 to December 2014. Prior to that, they worked as a Senior Animator at LucasArts from January 2010 to December 2011.

Jeff's early career includes working as a Senior Animator at Sega Studios San Francisco from 2006 to 2009. During this time, they animated on projects such as Iron Man, Golden Axe, and Iron Man 2, utilizing both keyframe and mocap techniques. Jeff collaborated with combat designers and the rigging team to improve animations and rigging systems.

Jeff Cooperman has a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Kenyon College. Jeff also holds a Master of Fine Arts degree in Figurative Painting from the New York Academy of Art. In 2012, they attended Animation Mentor but did not complete a degree. Additionally, they pursued studies in English Language and Literature/Letters at the University of Exeter.
