Alex Papanikolaou has been working in the field of disability inclusion for over 10 years. Alex started their career as a columnist for Khaleej Times, writing a column entitled "Wheeling Around with Alex Papanikolaou" which was weekly stories about life in Dubai from a wheelchair user's perspective. The stories were aimed at empowering people to improve their lives by including hints of inspiration. In 2010, they became the recruitment manager for Emirates Special Needs, an organization that provides free recruitment assistance to disabled people in the UAE ensuring fair and just employment. Alex also provided information and a free helpline in the UAE on services and facilities for disabled people. In 2018, they founded Freedom One Life, an organization that helps people with disabilities live their best life.
Alex Papanikolaou has a diploma in Creative Industries: Television from UHI. Alex was a top grade student at Perth Academy Secondary School. Alex has certifications from Scotland CAN DO SCALE 2015 with MIT Center for Entrepreneurship and Harvard Business School, Centre for Accessible Environments, The 4 Day MBA - Keith Cunningham Keys to the Vault, Business Mastery - Robbins Research International, and Mind Transformations Singapore.
