Gillian Robbins has a diverse work experience in the field of librarianship. Gillian began their career at Temple University's Tyler School of Art, Visual Resource Center as a Visual Resource Staff member from August 2009 to December 2010.
Since November 2013, they have been with the Free Library of Philadelphia, where they held several roles within the Business Resource and Innovation Center (BRIC). Gillian started as a Librarian, then became a Library Coordinator, and eventually advanced to the position of Business Services Supervisor. In November 2020, they were promoted to the Department Head of the BRIC, where they managed staff and services for business, nonprofit, workforce development, and intellectual property. Gillian also supervised the Interlibrary Loan department.
In April 2023, they transitioned to the role of Department Head of the Music Special Collections at the Free Library of Philadelphia. In this role, they oversee the Edwin A. Fleisher Collection of Orchestral Music, Henry S. Drinker Choral Library, and Sheet Music Collection.
Overall, Gillian Robbins has demonstrated a strong commitment to the library profession, with a particular focus on supporting business resources and music collections.
Gillian Robbins has a diverse education history. Gillian began their educational journey at Lycoming College from 2005 to 2009, where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree with a focus on Art History, Archaeology, and European History. Following that, they pursued further studies at Temple University from 2009 to 2011, earning a Master of Arts degree in Art History. Gillian then attended PennWest Clarion in 2011, where they completed a Master of Library Science degree in Library Science.
In addition to their academic achievements, Gillian also holds two certifications. Gillian obtained the Candid Trainer Certification from Candid in August 2021 and the Foundation Directory Expert Certification from the same institution in August 2022.
