Ben Hsieh

Ben Hsieh has extensive work experience in automation engineering and bioprocess engineering. Ben is currently working as the Senior Director of Automation Engineering at Freenome since October 2020. Prior to that, they worked at CareDx, Inc. as the Vice President of Lab Automation from September 2019 to October 2020.

From 2013 to 2019, Ben served as the Head of Automation Engineering at Invitae. Before that, they worked as a Senior Process Automation Engineer at Complete Genomics Inc from 2011 to 2013. Prior to that, they were a Lab Automation Specialist at Codexis from 2010 to 2011.

Ben's career in bioprocess engineering started at Pacific Biosciences where they worked as a Bioprocess Engineer from 2008 to 2010. Ben began their career at Applied Biosystems as a Fermentation Scientist/ QC Scientist from 2005 to 2008.

Ben Hsieh holds a Master of Science (MS) degree in Biotechnology from The Johns Hopkins University. Ben also obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Bioengineering: Biotechnology from UC San Diego Jacobs School of Engineering. Additionally, Ben has completed several executive education programs, including Mergers and Acquisitions from Columbia Business School and Business Analytics from The Wharton School. Ben holds certifications such as Project Management Professional (PMP®) from the Project Management Institute and Stanford Certified Project Manager (SCPM) from Stanford University. Ben is also a Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) certified by Scrum Alliance.
