Miguel Ocampo Cornejo

Miguel Ocampo Cornejo is an experienced professional with a solid background in plant maintenance and engineering within the mining industry. Currently serving as Plant Maintenance Manager at Freeport-McMoRan since 2014, Miguel has held multiple key roles, including Mining Technology Superintendent and Processing Maintenance Superintendent, primarily focusing on the Cerro Verde Project Expansion in Arequipa, Peru. This project involves the largest copper concentrator in its class, processing 240,000 tons per day and valued at US$ 6 billion. Miguel's responsibilities encompass leading the commissioning and ramp-up processes across various operational circuits. Prior to his tenure at Freeport-McMoRan, Miguel worked at Sociedad Minera Cerro Verde S.A.A. and Phelps Dodge Corporation in various supervisory and managerial roles. Miguel holds an MBA in Business Management from Universidad ESAN and a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Universidad Nacional de San Agustin de Arequipa.
