Jay Elder

Jay Elder is an Associate at Freeths since September 2025 and serves as a Non-Executive Committee Member and Supporting Treasurer for the Scottish Young Lawyers' Association since June 2024. Prior experience includes a Trainee Solicitor position at Morton Fraser MacRoberts LLP from November 2023 to August 2025, with rotations in Corporate Finance, Pensions & Share Schemes, Real Estate & Infrastructure, and Banking & Finance. Jay has contributed to ProBonoSkills.com as a Steering Committee Member focused on expanding outreach in England and Wales, and previously worked as a Trainee Solicitor at MacRoberts LLP for a brief period in November 2023. Notable earlier roles include Emergency First Aid Officer, Social Media Champion, and Customer Assistant at Marks and Spencer from August 2016 to September 2023, as well as various positions at The Aberdeen Law Project, inclusive of Initiative Coordinator. Jay holds an LLB from the University of Aberdeen and a Diploma in Legal Practice from the University of Strathclyde.
