Toby Benedyk

Toby Benedyk serves as the Chief Architect at Freetrade since October 2024, following a role as Senior Software Consultant with the Department for Education from April 2024 to October 2024. Previously, Toby held the position of Lead Platform Architect at Smart Pension from September 2021 to April 2024, where oversight of fintech platform development was a primary responsibility. Prior to that, Toby worked at SilkFred.com as Lead Technical Architect and as a Senior Software Engineer at Babylon Health and Smart Pension in a contracting capacity. Notably, Toby contributed to building Africa's first Bitcoin Exchange at BitPesa, focusing on security and compliance. Earlier experiences include software development roles at Lightbox Ventures, Third Space Learning, and Propertyflock, where the latter involved building infrastructure and leading team growth from the company's inception. Educationally, Toby holds a BSc Hons in Real Estate Management from Oxford Brookes University.
