James Donnelly has over 16 years of work experience in various roles. From 2002 to 2015, they worked as an IT Manager at The Consumer Council for Northern Ireland. In 2015, they joined the Northern Ireland Civil Service as an Account Manager for a brief period. From 2015 to 2018, they worked at fscom, starting as an IT Manager and later becoming the Chief Information Security Officer. Currently, since October 2018, they are employed as a Lead Auditor at the Information Commissioner's Office.
James Donnelly attended Ulster University from 2009 to 2012, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science in Computing and Information Systems. In 2013 to 2014, they pursued a Postgraduate Certificate in Information Security Management at The Open University. Prior to that, from 2004 to 2006, they attended Belfast Metropolitan College and obtained an HNC in Computing in Business Information Technology. In 2011, they also received a Certificate in Information Security Management Principles from BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT. Additionally, they have certifications including EU General Data Protection Regulation Practitioner and ISO27001 Certified ISMS Lead Implementer, both obtained in 2017 from IBITGQ.
