Dustin Thorlakson

Principal & President at FREIHEIT Architecture

Fascinated with the built environment around him, Dustin could sense the intangible influence buildings had on users. He was excited by the idea that he could make someone’s life better through the building around them. Furthermore, his love for buildings was solidified when he went on a trip with his grandpa, exploring castles throughout England, Austria, and Germany.

Dustin went on to attend the University of Southern California where he obtained a Bachelor of Architecture with a Minor in Business Administration. Dustin has been an important member of the North Lot project team, working on nearly every aspect of the commercial high-rise project. In addition, he also focuses on ground-up office buildings, retail stores, and restaurants. He enjoys getting to know his clients and ensuring that the project most efficiently and directly meets their needs. This extends throughout the life cycle of the project: from yield studies and preliminary design to Project Documentation and Construction Administration.

On sunny days, you will find Dustin hiking and backpacking throughout the Pacific Northwest and when it’s raining, playing his collection of modern board games with friends. His bucket list includes receiving an AIA Seattle Honor Award, hiking the Washington portion of the Pacific Crest Trail, and seeing the Mariners in the World Series.
