Sam has spent over 20 years executing on new businesses in the life sciences and chemicals
industries. This has always been done with business leaders who need to create value out of new
scientific platforms.
For example, Sam has been responsible for U.S. investments for a corporate venture arm
investing in early stage health tech. He started an electronic chemicals company in Asia for a
family office. He wrote the business and financial plan for a cardiologist and raised the Series A
financing for his company. He co-founded a technical college that teaches pharmaceutical
manufacturing and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) that has been graduating over 200
students a year for the last 23 years. He has led life science trade delegations to China and Japan.
His early career included roles as senior director of early stage drug discovery at a biotech
company and as a research scientist at DuPont. Sam obtained his PhD in chemistry from the
University of Toronto.
