Javier López Tomás

Javier López Tomás has worked in various roles in the data engineering and data science fields since 2018. Javier began their career as a Data Scientist at Rakuten TV in 2018. In the same year, they also worked as a Data Scientist at Club Deportivo Balans, where they developed an end-to-end data mining project for classifying acrobatics gymnasts. In 2019, they worked as a Data Scientist/Data Engineer at Atrápalo, where they reduced fraud loss by developing and deploying new real-time machine learning models. In 2020, they worked as a Data Engineer at PromoFarma.com, where they increased observability and security of the ETL process and enhanced reusability and portability of custom needs. Currently, they are working as a Senior Data Engineer at both Freshflow and GE Renewable Energy.

Javier López Tomás received a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Electromechanical Engineering from the Universidad Politécnica de Cartagena between 2012 and 2017. Javier then completed a Master of Science (MS) in Applied Statistics from the Universidad de Granada in 2018. In the same year, they also completed a Minor in Sustainability within Engineering from HU University of Applied Sciences Utrecht (Hogeschool Utrecht). Javier has also obtained several certifications, including an Introduction to Scala from DataCamp in December 2021, Big Data Fundamentals from Databricks in November 2021, Astronomer Certification DAG Authoring for Apache Airflow from Astronomer in August 2021, Astronomer Certification for Apache Airflow Fundamentals from Astronomer in March 2021, Joining Data in PostgreSQL from DataCamp in April 2018, Intro to SQL for Data Science from DataCamp in March 2018, Try SQL from Code School in March 2018, Intermediate Python for Data Science from DataCamp in January 2018, The Ultimate Excel Programmer from Udemy in July 2016, Analyzing and Visualizing Data with Excel from Microsoft in April 2016, and a First Certificate in English from the University of Cambridge in March 2015.
