Joey Bloom has worked in various software engineering roles since 2014. In 2016, they worked as a Software Engineering Intern at Fluid Management, where they wrote firmware to sniff CAN bus communications among pump boards on a dispenser, designed a GUI to sort and filter these messages in real time, and programmed Arduino to calculate dew point from temperature/humidity sensor and send to PID controller. In 2015, they worked as a Software Engineering Intern at Milliman, where they collaborated with other interns on a new tracing application for use within the company. In 2014, they worked as a Software Engineer at EmployeeTech. In 2017 and 2018, they worked as a Member of Technical Staff Intern at Qumulo, Inc. In 2019, they worked as a Platform Engineer at OppFi, where they designed, built, and iterated on feedback for dev tools, libraries, and platform services, created the OppFi Internal Status Page, and led a team documenting, testing, and upgrading the legacy paycheck schedule detection algorithm. In 2020, they worked as a Co-Founder at Crawl Chicago, where they independently designed, built, and deployed the entire technical architecture including a SwiftUI iOS app, a firebase cloud functions backend, and a firestore database. In 2022, they are currently working as a Software Engineer at Freshpaint.

Joey Bloom completed a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign from 2015 to 2018.
