Ed Sykes, PhD, currently serves as the Director of Communications at UK Biobank since January 2023, while also holding the position of Trustee at Freshwater Habitats Trust since 2018, where efforts focus on enhancing communication strategies around conservation practices for freshwater wildlife in the UK. Sykes has a rich background in PR and communications, having led teams at Huma and Babylon Health, and previously served as Head of Mental Health & Neuroscience at the Science Media Centre. In addition to extensive experience in science communication, Sykes has contributed to Stempra, revitalizing the organization and significantly increasing membership as Chair. Sykes holds a PhD in Evolutionary Biology from The University of Edinburgh and an MBiolSci in Zoology from The University of Sheffield.
