Allen Hester

Legislative Representative, Nuclear Disarmament & Pentagon Spending at Friends Committee on National Legislation

Allen Hester is a seasoned professional in nuclear disarmament and peacebuilding, currently serving as a Legislative Representative focused on Nuclear Disarmament and Pentagon Spending at the Friends Committee on National Legislation since June 2021. Additionally, Allen is a member of the Field Building Advisory Committee for Ploughshares Fund since February 2024. Previous roles include positions at Physicians for Social Responsibility, where Allen coordinated grassroots and policy efforts for the Nuclear Weapons Abolition Program, and as an Innovation Fellow with N Square Collaborative, addressing nuclear challenges through cross-sector collaboration. Allen's experience spans various organizations, including PeaceTech Lab, where outreach and communication strategies were developed, and Peace Direct, where Allen contributed to policy recommendations on countering violent extremism. Allen holds a Bachelor's degree in Peace Studies and Conflict Resolution from the Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter School for Peace and Conflict Resolution at George Mason University, complemented by a Nuclear Security Boot Camp program from The George Washington University.
