Abbey Handel is an experienced radio talk show host currently at WSUM 91.7 FM Madison, where engagement with the audience occurs through interviews with a diverse range of guests, all while ensuring compliance with FCC regulations. As a columnist for The Badger Herald, Abbey has interviewed politicians to aid their campaigns during the Wisconsin midterms and developed relationships with sources for story development. A production intern at The Laura Flanders Show, Abbey produced a four-part radio series on wealth-building strategies and created a podcast addressing antisemitism in universities. Abbey's earlier experience as a food server at Marmalade Cafe involved collaborating with a large team to deliver quality service and fostering strong customer relationships. Abbey is currently pursuing a degree at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, expected to graduate in May 2026.
WSUM 91.7 FM Madison
WSUM is the student-run freeform radio station at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. With over 200 active members, WSUM is one of the country’s largest college radio stations and serves more than 197,000 listeners per year through 24/7/365 programming on its FM signal and internet radio streams. The station’s mission is to act in a service and outreach capacity to the people of Madison, to provide an educational environment for students of UW-Madison, and to be an alternative source of information and entertainment to our campus and community.
