Juan Schwanker is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in advocacy and support services, particularly for marginalized communities. Currently serving as the Program Administrator and Lead Case Manager at Friends Outside since July 2019, Juan focuses on reentry programs that facilitate the successful transition of incarcerated individuals into the community. Previous roles include Participatory Defense Coordinator and Senior Community Organizer at Fathers & Families of San Joaquin from January 2017 to July 2019, where Juan championed legislative reforms and rapid response services related to immigration. Additionally, Juan served as Juvenile Justice Commissioner for The Superior Court of California County of San Joaquin and participated in outreach organizing for the Rapid Response Community Defense Program. Early career experiences include providing disability support services at both the University of the Pacific and San Joaquin Delta College. Juan holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology from the University of the Pacific, earned in May 2017.
