Francesca Girelli

Francesca Girelli has a diverse and extensive work experience. Francesca is currently the Head of Branded Content & Studios at Frieze, a position they have held since February 2021. Prior to this, they held the same position at Frieze from June 2018 to February 2021.

Before joining Frieze, Francesca worked at the Victoria and Albert Museum as the CIT (Chinese Iconographic Thesaurus) Project Coordinator from November 2016 to June 2018. In this role, they were responsible for coordinating a multidisciplinary project that aimed to create the first thesaurus of Chinese iconography.

Francesca also has experience in the publishing industry, having worked as the Associate Editor of Kaleidoscope Asia at KALEIDOSCOPE from April 2013 to January 2017.

Francesca has also worked as a Curator and Researcher at Arthub Asia from December 2011 to December 2016. During this time, they were involved in curatorial and research activities.

Francesca's experience also includes working as the City Pavilions Project Manager at the 9th Shanghai Biennale from April 2012 to October 2012, and as a Junior Specialist at Spink (Auction House) from March 2010 to December 2011.

Francesca has also worked at Balclis, an auction house in Barcelona, as the Coordinator of Valuations and Auctioneer from March 2009 to January 2010, and at Christie's as the Barcelona Office Administrator from October 2007 to February 2009.

Francesca's early career includes working as an Assistant Curator at the Crawford Art Gallery, Fine Art Museum in Cork, Ireland from April 2006 to April 2007.

Francesca Girelli began their education in 2001 at Ca' Foscari University in Venice, Italy, where they earned a Bachelor's degree in Art History with a focus on Old Masters Paintings. Francesca continued their studies at the same university and obtained a Master's degree in Art History, specializing in Contemporary Art and Photography, which they completed in 2007. In that same year, Francesca pursued further education at the International University of Catalonia in Barcelona, Spain, where they completed a Master's degree in Cultural Management, specifically in Visual Arts Management and the Art Market, in 2008.
