Nina Cohen

Nina Cohen teaches world history, AP US Government and Politics and 20th Century American Culture. Prior to working at Frisch, Nina spent three years teaching AP United States History, Government and Economics at the Stella K. Abraham High School for Girls, where she also served as a College Guidance Counselor.

Nina holds a Masters of Arts from the University of Pennsylvania, where she received the Penn Prize for Excellence in Teaching by Graduate Students and was a Benjamin Franklin and O. Odlozilik fellow. Her master’s thesis, “Imaginary Jews for Imaginary Audiences: Jewish and Christian Appropriations of the 1646 Vocalized Mishnah,” was presented at the 2014 Gruss Colloquium in Judaic Studies at the Katz Center for Advanced Judaic Studies. Nina graduated summa cum laude from Barnard College with a degree in history and religion. Her senior thesis, “A Barometer of Religious Nationalism: Louis IX and the Jews,” received Barnard College Department of History honors.

Nina has spent time working in museum education at both the Tenement Museum and the Museum at Eldridge Street, where she developed docent-training materials and walking tours of the historic Lower East Side. She is committed to making history engaging, interactive and enjoyable.
