Monica Östling Holmlund has a diverse and extensive work experience in the field of design and user experience. Monica started their career as a Scriptwriter at Reference Interactive Studio in 1996. Monica then worked as a Project Manager at Alfabeta Gammafon Multimedia, where they were responsible for creative aspects of computer games and educational titles. In 2000, Monica joined Com Hem AB as an Art Director and User Interface Designer, where they played a crucial role in developing a consistent visual communication strategy.

In 2005, Monica became a Design Manager and later an Art Director at e-Centret, where they were involved in concept development, interface design, and brand development for broadband TV services. In 2010, they joined Kringla Interaktiv Design as a Designer, contributing to various design projects.

Monica's next step was at Stardoll in 2012, where they served as the Art Director for mobile games, leading a development team and creating cutting-edge iOS games. In 2013, they joined Fjord as a Service Design Lead, responsible for project delivery across multiple platforms and devices.

From 2014 to 2018, Monica worked at Creuna as a User Experience Lead, a UX Director, and a Skill Lead, participating in shaping digital strategies and designing innovative services. Monica then moved to Fröjd Agency in 2019, initially serving as a UX & Design Director, and later becoming the Head Of Design. In these roles, Monica led large design teams, overseeing all aspects of strategic design, user research, accessibility, and concept development.

Monica Östling Holmlund's education history includes several institutions and fields of study. Monica attended Stockholm University from 1994 to 1997, where they earned a Bachelor's degree in Multimedia and Education-Technology. In 2001 and 2002, they took an evening course at Forsbergs skola in Graphic Design and Advertising. In 2004, they studied Strategic Marketing at Folkuniversitetet. In 2007, Monica completed an Executive program in Design Management at Berghs School of Communication. Monica returned to Forsbergs skola from 2010 to 2012, focusing on Graphic Design and Advertising. In addition, they studied Visual Communication at Konstfack from 1995 to 1996, and Visual Design at Nyckelviksskolan in 1993. Lastly, in 1993-1994, they pursued a field of study called "Konst" at Ålsta folkhögskola.
