Fernando Nava

Fernando Nava has a diverse range of work experience in the field of information security. Fernando is currently working as the Information Security Manager at Frontier Medicines since April 2021. Prior to this, they served as the Information Security Lead at Principia Biopharma from September 2018 to April 2021.

Before joining Principia Biopharma, Fernando worked at Actelion as the Information Security Lead for the Americas from November 2009 to September 2018. In this role, they collaborated closely with the Global Information Security team and was responsible for implementing and overseeing the organization's information security program. Fernando'sresponsibilities also included assessing risk to IT systems and intellectual property, enhancing the company's security maturity, and working with senior management to define acceptable risk and prioritize security initiatives.

Prior to Actelion, Fernando gained experience as a Senior IT Security Infrastructure Specialist at Symantec from August 2008 to October 2009. Fernando also worked as a Senior IT Security Engineer at Eaton & Associates from July 2008 to September 2009, where they led a complex security firewall migration project for a local government client.

Early in their career, Fernando held the position of Network Security Engineer at LifeMasters Supported SelfCare from May 2000 to June 2008. In this role, they were responsible for architecting and maintaining the network and security infrastructure, implementing security technologies, and providing support to critical network and infrastructure systems.

Fernando's first job was as a Database Administrator at Dionex Corporation from November 1997 to May 2000. In this role, they were accountable for storage provisioning, capacity planning, and managing enterprise systems and databases. Fernando also provided technical leadership and knowledge transfer to system administrators and help desk staff.

Overall, Fernando Nava has gained extensive experience in information security, with a focus on implementing and managing security programs, assessing risk, enhancing security maturity, and providing strategic direction to organizations.

Fernando Nava obtained a BS degree in Management from Golden Gate University, where they studied from 1992 to 1996. Later, they pursued further education and completed an MS in Information Security and Forensics from Penn State University, specializing in Information Security. Fernando attended Penn State University from 2012 to 2014.
